The very first night my operations manager adopted her new dog, Trixie, she partially ate a pair of underwear out of a clothes basket while she thought she was just sleeping in her basket. At 10:00pm on a Sunday night, their first trip together was to an Animal ER. While it was far from a comfortable situation, she was comforted by the fact that she didn’t need to panic when figuring out where to take Trixie – she knew exactly where the closest clinic was.
Whenever we go in to meet a new dog walking or pet sitting client who has just moved to the area, they often ask, “Where is the nearest emergency vet clinic?” We love this question as it shows they are taking on the responsibility of being prepared in the event of an emergency. As pet owners, we don’t like to think that anything bad will happen to our pets. However, if something does happen after your normal vet is closed for the night, on a weekend, or is a huge emergency, do you know where to take your dog or cat to get him the care he needs? Knowing where these clinics are located is all part of planning for the ”in case” events that we hope won’t happen, but very well may at some point. Here are the 24 hour emergency vet clinics located throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha counties (don’t forget to program the clinic nearest you into your phone just in case!):
