An Irish proverb once said, “A dog owns nothing, yet is seldom dissatisfied.”  Do your pet a favor this St. Patrick’s Day, and include them on your festivities!

If we are getting into the spirit of the holiday and drinking green bear, why not let our dog enjoy some St. Patrick’s Day goodies too?  Here’s a link for a recipe to make delicious St. Paddy’s Day Patties for your dog!  If your dog benefits from a grain-free diet, try substituting the suggested flour with a gluten-free source instead, such a potato, coconut, tapioca, almond, or garbanzo bean flour.

Walk your dog in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Bluemound!  This Saturday, March 15th at 3:30pm the Milwaukee Small Breed Dog Group is meeting in the parking lot of the Bark ‘N Scratch Outpost prior to the parade.

Come down to Catalano Square for a pet-friendly parade in the historic 3rd ward on Monday, March 17th from 5-6:30pm.  Pets in their “Irish best” will receive free treats!

Come donate to our local pet community, and see who’s searching for a forever home! MADACC is hosting the Luck of the Irish Adoption Event next Saturday, March 22nd from 10am-1pm.  Spread the woof, don’t shop — adopt!

Remember to be safe with your pet as you celebrate this fun holiday.  Be mindful of your pet’s needs and well-being.  Exercise your dog’s body and mind before leaving them to attend a St. Paddy’s Day party, or before having friends over to your home to celebrate.  Be sure to educate yourself on toxic foods and items that may be around during the festivities.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
