As professional cat sitters in Milwaukee we are excited to be adding new clients to our roster! However, we do some investigation BEFORE we actually will accept your cat as a new client.
Here’s why:
Over the years we have had cats that are, lets say, not so friendly. If they hide when we come in, not a problem. Not every cat is like a dog, and eventually we use our talents to persuade them to come out for some loving….but there have been times that we literally had to bring a cardboard shield in to protect ourselves from harm!
Some cats are downright dangerous. How the cat behaves with Mom or Dad is very different than how he/she will be with a stranger in the house. Recently, we had to part ways with a wonderful client because her cat bit my sitter and she was out of commission for over a week! She was allergic to the first round of antibiotics she was given and had to go on two more that her system could tolerate!
Here are some tips on what to do if you are bitten by a cat:
- Wash the wound IMMEDIATELY with warm soap and water for a number of minutes to get the bacteria off the area, and to get the bacteria that has been injected out of your body.
- If you have an antiseptic handy, please use it.
- Cover the wound with a bandage and use antibiotic ointment immediately.
Did you know that when a cat bites, they inject bacteria into the would to stop their predators? If you notice that your bite has become red, inflamed and bothersome, seek medical attention immediately. You may need to go on a course of antibiotics as well as get an IV antibiotic.
